This year was Tailynne's first spring break!! We were able to visit Laci's mom and Thom's parents in the same trip since Laci's parents have now moved to Golden. We left Monday morning and stayed Monday night with Laci's mom. Tailynne had her first "getting lost with Nanny" trip as we searched for a place to eat on Monday evening, followed by her first visit to a Village Inn.
On Tuesday morning we headed to Loveland to visit Thom's parents. On Tuesday evening we had a family get-together with the Quist sons and their families. It was great to be able to catch up with family, and it was fun for Tai to see her cousins. Wednesday was "shop 'til you drop" day with Grandma and Grandpa Quist. We went to Men's Wear House to get a suit for Thom as his parents' graduation present to him (Thank you very much mom and dad! The 3 piece brown suit looks and fits great!). We also shopped at Plato's Closet and TJMaxx for Laci's birthday present from Thom's parents (Thank you very much for the great shirts! They are wonderful!). We stopped by Moroni Book, where we bought Tai a book called "My First Story of the First Easter." Later that night we made a Hobby Lobby run (like I said, it was "shop 'til you drop" day).
Thursday we headed back to Golden to spend some more time with Laci's mom. Micah and her family were there also and for some reason we decided to make another "shop 'til you drop" trip to the Colorado Mills mall. That mall is enormous! We had a great time. The trip included Tai's first time on a carousel, which she enjoyed for the second half. She would wave at dad and everyone else we passed. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to make it around the entire mall, stopping at a few stores along the way. As fun as it was, we were all relieved when we made it around. That evening we ate at IHOP so Thom could try the "Green Eggs and Ham" special promoting the movie, "Horton Hears a Who."
Friday morning we watched Micah's kids so Micah and Randy could attend a lunch meeting. For a snack after lunch, we gave all the kids (including Tai) Strawberries. It was Tai's first time eating Strawberries, and she loved it!
The trip home on Friday afternoon provided another first for Tai: her first traffic jam! She was not very pleased with the stop-and-go for 40 minutes over a strip of road that normally takes us about 15 minutes at the most. Thom cursed the drive by making the comment that morning that "Pueblo traffic is never bad." We arrived home around 8:30 Friday night, and Tai was thrilled to be out of her car seat, and in her own home again. She was grinning and giggling for at least half an hour.
All in all, we had a great Spring Break! Thanks to everyone that provided us with lodging, food, and entertainment!
