Color Challenge # 21

I am working on improving my creative side. Which really needs some work. There is a blog that I go to quite often to get ideas and learn techniques, click here to see the blog. I love this site she is very talented. Anyway, she does a weekly color challenge. She pickes a picture or items that inspire her and she challeges us to make a card out of those colors. Here is my card for this weeks challenge. I have never done this before but I really liked it. It definetly challenged me. I hope you enjoy my card. We will see how I do.

Labor Day

We had a fun Labor Day. I had to work which was kind of a bummer, but the rest of the day was fun. Thom's brother and his family came to visit us. They came and toured the Healy House Museum, then they took a walk around town. When I got off work I joined them. Then we headed out to Turquoise Lake which is about 3 miles from where we live. David and the kids went fishing. The rest of us sat around and enjoyed the view. Once we got cold we went home for dinner where we had a roast. Time went too fast and it was time for David's family to head home, but on their way out of town we stopped at a local restaurant to have shake, which were really good. It was a fun day. Thanks for coming, David and Sariah, we had a blast with you.

August in a Nut Shell

We went to Lookout Mountain to watch the city lights come on. The picture didn't turn out the best because it was dark, but I thought I would post a picture of Thom and me instead of just Tailynne.

Tailynne loves to wear Thom's hat around. On this day she was in her room playing, and came out wearing it.

Tailynne had her first bubble bath. She loved it.

Sorry I have been a slacker at updating this. August was a crazy month. I spent my days off in Golden helping my dad with the store, so I didn't have many days off. I will try to do better in the future, but I make no promises.

July in a Nut Shell

Tailynne learned to walk in July! She'd taken a few steps at a time before, but now she is everywhere, and she is getting more fearless by the day.
We made a trip down to Alamosa (it was weird "visiting" Alamosa after living there for three years) to walk in a couple parades to support Randy. While we were down there Laci got to go to Zapata falls with Micah and her sisters-in-law; they had a great time. I got to go see "The Dark Knight" with the guys. It was awesome!
Tailynne and Caden both fell asleep during the Monte Vista parade where we walked with the float for the local Republican Party.
We walked with Randy's float at the Pioneer Day parade in Manassa. Randy actually built the giant stool which stands 8 feet tall on its own. We had a blast passing out candy to the crowds. Tailynne sat on the float with Laci and waved at everyone.
Laci and I rode the ferris wheel at the Pioneer Day carnival. It went faster than I remember ferris wheels I've been on in the past going, but we still had a good time.

June in a Nut Shell

The Horton reunion was in June. Laci and I acted as host this year, and it was held in Pagosa Springs thanks to Micah and Randy's time share. One day of the reunion we went hiking at Treasure Falls. Tailynne preferred to hold our hands and walk rather than be carried.

Treasure Falls was beautiful, but I don't think they named the "Myst Deck" properly. It should have been called the "Soak Deck." The water was freezing!

We made a trip to Northern Colorado because Laci and I were alternates for the State Republican Convention. We got the chance to go up to Loveland and see my family while we were there. All the babies are growing so fast!
Before we moved, we made a trip to the Great Sand Dunes with Micah and her kids. Tailynne loved playing in the water,but only when it was shallow enough that the sun could warm it. She wasn't as big of a fan of the cold water.
At the end of June we moved into our new home in Leadville. I took a job at Lake County Middle School teaching 8th grade English. We are happy to be living in an actual house, but it actually has less storage space than our apartment in Alamosa did. We've had to get a little creative with storing things.

Florida Pictures

We are slow but here are some of our pictures from our Florida trip. We didn't get to many because our camera died. But Micah and Randy got some for us so we do have a few. Thanks Micah and Randy! Here is a picture in front of the Disney Castle. Unfortunatly you can't see it because it is dark.

This is Tailynne and her cousin Caden. Micah and Randy took them swimming while Thom and I enjoyed the morning at Epcot Center.
Okay. I know we are cheesey.
Of course we had to get a picture in front of the lighthouse at Sea World.
Tailynne loved the pinguins at Sea World. So we decided to get a picture in front of the pinguin mural. Tailynne liked it too. It is a little hard to tell but she is pointing at it.

What a relief. We finally got our blog caught up less a few pictures from Florida to come.

Tonight I took off Tailynne's dress because she got berries on it, and she kept trying to put clothes on herself. She has been trying that a lot lately. Here are a couple pictures of her success. She can not get it all the way on but at one point she did have it over her head. She is such a funny girl. She can always bring a smile to our faces.

Just a quick little update on our family since Thom graduated he has been applying for jobs. He had an interview in Leadville last week and was offered a job there. He has a few interviews this week to come, we will see how those go. It is good to know we have a promising lead though. We keep praying for the spirit to lead us the direction we need to go.
